Health & Wellbeing Support Group – Sunbury
During this COVID period we have been actively contacting our local community services like Care Works, Vinnies, Men’s Shed, Ecumenical community, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health and our local schools to identify where there are gaps in services.

One of the few areas that were highlighted by the above services are support needed in breaking the cycle of isolation and people with mental health.
To address this gap, we have initiated a walking group every Saturday Morning from 8:30am to 10:30am starting from Clarke Oval Sunbury. On Tuesday evenings activities are organised at the Leisure Centre at concessional rates.
We have commenced these activities since the beginning of COVID 2019 and continue to do so.
We find that these activities have strengthened and developed relationships amongst members. We found that people have been caring and supportive with each other. Due to these activities people are socialising and not feeling lonely and isolated.
We find that the group members are introducing new faces and the group is expanding. We are in the process of approaching the local Supermarkets to support this group with free fruits to maintain, motivate and sustain the members.
This year we will be introducing Sausage Sizzle Socialising activity once in three months welcoming new members in order to promote this activity to the wider community.
Any enquiries please contact Garnet Jacob on 0411 286 428 or John Cutajar on 0413 140 066
These activities are in Partnership with GUIH, Sunbury ‘Sons of the West Sunbury’ and Sunbury Cobaw Community Health Centre’.
